HELP windows xp activation

hi all,

i bought an OEM copy of windows xp home to go on my new pc, i recenty bought a raid card so i formated and used that, i have now come to activate my genuine copy and it wont let me do i have to buy a retail copy to have multiple activations as i regulary format my system due to uprgrades etc.

all it says in ther is there are several diffwerent types of keys but it doesnt tell you which ones go with which versions
