Nephews bday last week, helping remotely to look for a PC for both general work/study and gaming. (Nephew will have to share it :)
I'm out of date with all this stuff, tho in the past have built my rigs. (geez I feel so old)

Lots of suggestions by AI but would like advice re which path to take?

1. Budget gaming PC + monitor
2. Basic PC + stream games on game pass (house is still on SKY ADSL with sky router in Hampstead Gardens 33d 7up connection, not sure if fibre available, finished sky contract)
3. Basic PC + 2nd hand xbox X from market place + Game Pass combo?

Nephew listed these games if its any help = Skate, Fortnight, Rocket League, Froza Horizon 5, Battlefield 6, UFC.

#Any PC + monitor deals like this?

Purchase Timeframe: Any

Budget: £900 - £1000 max

Usage: study / gaming

Peripherals: keyboard, headset, webcam & whatever kids use for gaming these days, maybe a controller?

Special Needs/Requirements (inc Wi-Fi): WiFi card, monitor

--Sorry for the tight budget!

Only pre built for I can see is:

Will that run these games ok? or will have to upgrade in 6 months? (it says it runs "Ultra smooth Rocket League")

Also what monitor would you go for?

Thanks heaps from down under and happy 2026!

Hi.

The pc is not bad and yes it will run games at 1080p so that's the resolution of the monitor I would pick, 24" IPS would my choice and at least 100hz.
It's AM4 CPU while na few generations old will be capable for his needs and can be upgraded in the future but should work fine with a 1080p monitor.
This should leave you enough for the peripharels but remember you may need speakers if the monitor doesn't have sound built in.
