Help with ~£450 upgrade please.

Hi guys, currently looking to upgrade from my old e6600 machine to something I5 based but as I have been out of the game for a couple of years iam a bit lost when it comes to the new set-ups.

My current machine


E6600
4gb ddr2
ati 4890 1gb*
2xWD 640gb in raid*



*planning to keep for the next build to keep costs down

Also it mostly will be used for rendering/modelling with only a bit of gaming so currently a massive GPU and SSD are not yet required, although I would see a PCI-e based storage as a possible option in the future.

So iam looking for a- I5, MB and Ram (pref 8gb 1600) to fit in a case like the Corsair Graphite 600TM if possible. I would like to keep overclocking a option for the future as well.

No OS required either.

is the cost of the case in the budget cause that one is nice but expensive. What connections are on your drives sata or ide. What psu do you have, will you need a new one

Ideally would like to get the case included in budget but will have to see. HDD's are SATA and should be able to use the current 650w PSU.


While a I6 would be nice I think it would just push the budget too much at the moment, a OC'd I5K should suffice.
