Hi all - first post and already asking for help.

Finally saved up for the chance to get a gaming rig sorted and so will be building from scratch. I have set a limited of £700-800 (will be hard to go over this). Only need rig and operating system, would also look to have overclockers build it.

Following the normal advice that you should be going for the best gpu possible for your budget I think a GTX 1060 or RX 480 are the best I can get. With perhaps an i5 processor (not sure on AMD equivalent). I am keen to get into this and will likely upgrade in 18 months or so.

Also, of less importance, but it would be nice to have an SSD in addition to the HDD.

Essentially looking for any advice on the best way to go about this and which areas/dreams I would need to sacrifice to meet the budget and have a solid pc for the next 18 months or more.

Happy to answer any more questions and apologies if I have missed any needed info.

Many thanks in advance! :)

Wow thanks for speedy reply. I didnt think i could get all that in budget so thanks.

In the spirit of research are you able to comment on potential drawbacks of the kind of build i am wanting at all - pros/cons or is it a pretty standard build for 700ish?

Thanks again.

The rig above looks good, my only comments would be a 120gb SSD is limiting, I would try to stretch to 240gb, but thats more just a nice to have to be honest. Also building it yourself would be worth it for the savings, its not difficult and can be enjoyable :) but I understand its not for everyone.

For that money you will have a very capable machine that will monster everything at 1080p with high/ultra settings, speaking of which, I assume you have a monitor? Whats the resolution and refresh rate, does it have freesync/G Sync?

Will be using an older HD monitor/tv with a hdmi port until Sept when i will be picking up a new monitor. I guess having freesync will be needed to get most out of rig.

I would love to build it myself however the wait to get the rig has been so long am terrified of messing it up as not done it before...

It's Gsync you need if you're getting an NVidia GPU and if you want Freesync instead, make sure to get a AMD card :)

I was hoping a thread would come up with this kind of budget, hope you don't mind me joining shuffles.

I've put the following for myself together:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £774.81
(includes shipping: £0.00)

I've opted for the z170 for better upgradeability, no OS and already have a HDD. Solely used for gaming.
