Hey all.

My rig is as sig, but today I picked up 4x4GB Crucial Ballistix sticks 1600mhz rated at 9-9-9-24 @ 1.5V.
My 4ghz overclock was fine with my old ram, which was 2x2GB Giel 1600mhz . I have ensured that the timings are correct and the voltage is a touch over 1.5V. The sticks are running at 1600mhz.
My CPU is an i5 750 clocked up to 4ghz (200x20).

The PC is crashing on games, as in completely freezing up. I have had no BSODs. I have read that 4 sticks harms overclocks, but I whilst I am aiming quite high I am not aiming for the absolute maximum overclock possible.
I have raised a few voltages a notch but to be honest I am not sure which one needs to be upped to cope with 4 ram sticks. Of course I may need to settle for a 3.8ghz overclock, or the ram could be faulty.

Thanks in advance for any help :).

Youll likely have to increase the qpi dram voltage, (may be called vtt on your board) due to filling out all ram slots.

I'd double check if those are the actual timings what does it say on cpu-z ? you should use for 1600mhz and increase the voltage to cpu I run my i5 750 at 200x20 but I need 1.38-1.4 ghz to consider it a solid overclock see if it still crashes with an increased cpu voltage 4 sticks has been known to cause instability/ require more voltage. My board an msi p55 gd80 seems to work best on auto for all board voltages but could need to increase some board voltages to get 4 sticks stable or even update the bios.

Yeah, Ive got the i5 760 and when jumping from 2 sticks to 4 sticks I had to raise my IMC voltage on my ASUS MB, which I think on other MB's its called VTT.

Thanks for the replies everyone :).

I have put all voltages back to how they were before I went to 4 sticks along with putting the new ram to 1.5v as it uses less voltage than the old sticks. I have upped the VTT/QPI one notch and will see how that goes.

My CPU is 1.4v (although I have no Load Line Calibration enabled which ups the voltage under load to counteract voltage drop) and QPI/VTT is at 1.29V now, at 1.27V it was still crashing in BF3 around every 30 mins. I did a single run of Intel Burn Test and it passed - I know this needs to be left running overnight but passing one run indicates at least a moderate level of stability.

EDIT: It crashed at 1.29V QPI/VTT. Not one crash was a bsod. Am trying 3.8ghz (19x200) now.

I have tried upping the VTT up to 1.37V and still the issue is present. I even tried upping all other voltages a notch.
Could it be that my CPU just doesn't like 200 base clock when I have 4 ram sticks?
