Help with a an upgrade

Although my system is not that bad I'm getting that itchy upgrade feeling. I mainly use my pc for games like bf2 and upcoming 2142, tfc2 etc.

athlon 64 2700+
one BFG 7800
2gig memory
x-fi fatlity sound card.
Asus A8N-Sli Delux
ddr2 2gig memory


what do you think would be the best upgrade? I bought the sli board as I thought it would enable me to buy a 2nd 7800 but 7800's are still holding there value.

Is the 7800 a GT or a GTX?
What res do you play at?

If you're using 1280x1024 then you could sell the 7800, buy an X1800 or X1900 and treat yourself to one of the new 20" widescreens? If your card is a GTX then there's no need to sell it as it should run ok at that res.

Either that or a full conroe upgrade is all that i can think of really. It's already a decent rig as it is.

the 7800 is a gt. I have a dell 24 inch lcd and I like to play with 1900x1600 res where possible

Ah i see. In that case then i think only a X1900XT would make a significant difference to the speed of games without completely revamping to a conroe rig.

EDIT: Do you mean that you have a 3700+ and not a 2700+ A64? You could go for one of the X2 A64's while they're going cheap and maybe give conroe a miss. Depends entirely on your budget really.

I wouldn't have thought upgrading to an X2 would have a significant affect on the performance in games, certainly not for the cost imo

I didn't mean it as having a boost in games. I just meant that it would be the only logical upgrade, as well as the graphics card, without moving over to conroe.
 
So basically no point upgrading unless i go all out and go for a conroe system? Maybe I'll try overclocking.
