Hello folks,

The following is a book I read some years ago and what I would like to read again as it may have gone into a series. I cannot remember the book's title or author hence my asking.

* Special forces team recruited into a top secret US government organisation, with a condition of service being you talked about it you would be killed.

* The team worked with alien races friendly to humanity.

* They also worked against alien races who were hostile against the Earth.

* One of the friendly alien characters was very human like who could blend in.

* The book also jumps between history and the modern day, with one of the hostile aliens did a deal with Joseph Stalin and delivered Adolf Hitler to him.

I assure you all that I am not mad, and I would like to read the book again but wonder of the OCUK book and media nerds might help me to get the name of the book and / or author so I can get it read again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Chatgpt seems the think...

The book you're describing is "The Power of the Sea" by Frank Schätzing. This novel features a special forces team working with both friendly and hostile alien races, blending modern-day events with historical figures and scenarios. The storyline includes a secret government organization, interactions with aliens, and historical twists involving figures like Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler.

But can't verify it myself, doesn't tally up. Maybe the authors name rings a bell.

From wikipedia:

David Lynn Golemon (David L. Golemon) is the author of paranormal thriller novels, notably the Event Group Thrillers.

In Event, the first book in the Event Group series, Major Jack Collins is drafted into the covert Event Group and investigates a UFO incident seemingly related to the Roswell UFO incident. The books often involve famous events and people from history, such as Jack the Ripper and Czar Nicholas II

Could it be one of the books in this series?

and my next guess would be the Area 51 Series by Robert Doherty

"The series is based on the idea that aliens came to Earth about 10,000 years ago, and greatly influenced many things since then, often in surprising and even intriguing ways--usually unknown by, and hostile to, humans. Mayer has done considerable homework about legends throughout the world and about historical facts, and he weaves these together (often cleverly) into a hypothetical alternative history of the past, present, and future of Earth and some other planets. Many of his descriptions of actual historical places, things, and events are interesting on their own. Mayers' treatment of "ancient aliens" is far more well thought out than (for example) is the TV series on the History channel, although there are some intersections. The series describes how a small group of people (more or less related to Area 51) lead Earth's defense against the aliens, mostly in the present time."
