Help with a build

Hey all, looking to upgrade and haven't done so for 5 years.
At this moment I'm still using: -

Asus K8VSE Deluxe mobo
AMD64 3400+
2 x 512mb Corsair Ram
Samsung 150g HDD
Nvidia 7600GT
Evermax 500w PSU (must be like 7 years old)


Looking to spend in the region of 1k for the build and would appreciate your ideas. It's been a long time since I've upgraded and I don't have a clue of whats good nowdays.

I won't be needing Vista or a Montior.

What are you actually wanting the computer to do?
Heres a quick idea, but depending on your monitor size/resolution and uses of machine you may want to tweak and improve gfx for gaming etc

Yep it will be a complete build. My monitor is a Iiyama VM Pro 454, I know you're probably thinking upgrade that aswell. For gaming you just can't beat a CRT imo.

I'll mostly be using the rig to play a lot of old games and FPS games such as Quakelive. But also having the power there if anything new comes onto the market that I fancy.

The only reason I'm now looking to upgrade is because I think my PSU is on its way out and thought what the heck, i'll do the lot, it's about time.:)
