Help with a build

Hello peopes, noob here in need of some advice

Is it possible to build a box which is remote of a PC to contain the following:

2 CD.DVD Read/Writers
USB 2.0 (or 3.0) Hub
Cooling controller (such as Lamptron FC5 or FC6)
Anything else of use (suggestions please)


It's not that I'm too lazy to get out of the chair to twiddle those knobs or push those buttons, it's really not

The distance (in wire length) between the two points is around 5m.

you can get 5m active USB leads so you could just get a load of USB devices and box them up together, you can also daisy chain the active cables if you need more length.

Thanks Gav. I might just revert back to an active USB 2.0 hub & leave the rest in the Workstation case.

I want to link to a monitor (which is USB 3.0) - is 5m too long for this? If not, I can use an active USB 3.0 Hub.

anything over 4m its recommended you use a powered USB hub before connecting devices as the power draw over long distances can cause problems with motherboards.
