Hi all I have a problem

I have this

Abit NF7-S 2.0
AMD mobile CPU its the one I got from OCUK many moons ago that was able to OC to the 3200+ speeds but using lower voltages.

Now heres the thing about a month ago I had it running at I am sure 2.2ghz with 200mhz fsb and 11multiplier im sure thats what it was but then me PSU popped I then put it aside as I did not need to use the pc as I have another one.

Any ways I have dug it back out and I have another PSU not great but its ok.
I have booted it up and ran it at 1ghz but if I try 2.1/2.2 etc etc it wont boot or it will but then bugger up on me before it gets to windows.

I cant understand it what am I doing wrong was there something I need to do that I have forgot as like I said in title it was a classic OC.

Thanks all please help as I want it up and running tonight.

P.S

It all works I have had it running in windows XP but not at the OC I use to have it running at only 1.0ghz :(

FFS ok I have just tryed a lower FSB 190x10 so 1.9ghz and still wont work what is going on here it restarts saves changes the dont display any thing etc etc :(

First of all, what CPU is it? 2500+ Barton?

Have you done the normal? Seeing if the BIOS is upto date etc, seeing if you are putting the voltages correctly? Can it even be something like the new PSU not giving enough juice?

I cant rember what it was but OCUK sold them for this OC years ago it was an AMD mobile CPU.

Hi I dont know I mean its booted ok now at 1ghz at a voltage of 1.5 I think default is 1.45 for these mobile CPU`s.

Any way no matter what I do I cant get it to run at 2.2ghz and that's what I use to run it at before the old PSU went pop.

I am sure I ran the voltage at bout 1.5 on old PSU and so this one should do it really as it is now but at 1ghz.

I am confused as when I purchased this lot I did what they said in the thread that was going at the time and it worked perfectly.

I need some one who remembers this OC and get them to help I suppose

OK I have just installed CPU ID and its an

AMD athlon xp-m barton dont say any thing like 2200 or any thing but I know it was able to do 3200+ speed which I think was 2.2ghz.

Just did 200mhz x 9 @ 1.55V and just gets no signal still :( damn it.

I have done some more reading and there is no other explanation then it must be the PSU.

Even though it boots at 1ghz with a voltage of 1.50+ so the PSU can give it that if I try to do so at 2.2ghz it just beeps saves to cmos then I get no display.

Please any one got any ideas?.

Okay,

Sounds like your chips is probably a barton mobile 2500+ which should have a default speed of 1.826GHz (166 front side bus x11 multiplier). And I think a 1.65V CPU core voltage?? Best double check that bit though.

My old Bartons (had two both in NF7s motherboards) would do just under 200Mhz FSB on an 11 multiplier giving an actual clocke of around 2.2Ghz. If I remember rightly it was fine on 199FSB but would always die on 200fsb or above.

If I remember rightly the Mobile barton also had unlocked multiplier so you could up it to 12 or 13 to reach around 2.4Ghz or better? I have a feeling one of mine reached 2.4??

Hopw this helps, at least theoretically you can dial in appropaite figures in the bios now.

It sounds like it has defaulted to 6 x 166 which is the lowest multiplier.

Do a bios reset if you haven't already.

The bios should recognise the CPU automatically.

Check the Cmos battery output or get another one, it may not be remembering the setup correctly.

Check what speeds your memory is set at. Install only two sticks of same speed.

CPU needs the 4 pin connector from the PSU connected.

mobile barton is unlocked. Abit NF-s board is a good one, I also had two of them once,
