I've got a fan on my motherboard and it's sounding quite bad, so it either needs fixing/cleaning or replacing, not my strong point, someone suggested I just replace it but I'm not sure what I am looking for.

Motherboard: ASUS M4N78

And here's a picture of my current fan if it helps: http://i47.tinypic.com/2w20inc.jpg

Thanks :)

Mmm, no, it's electric :P

I'm quite serious, I'm not much good with the inner workings of my PC.

Aside from the fact that the inside of your case is filthy and needs a good clean do you know what fan it is that is making the noise? You have 3 fans in the picture but chances are your graphics card has one, your power supply will defiinately have one and you may have one or more others for case cooling. Cleaning your PC is going to be beneficial but it won't help solve your noise problem, for that you need to identify where it's coming from and then replace the relevent part.

Alright, I will give cleaning a go and as for the noise, I am pretty sure it's not the Power Supply, the noise is coming from around the centre and not the back.

If it did come to replacing a fan though, what would I be looking for? I've replaced Power Supplies before, so I can manage that if it is that.

Use a rolled up mag to ear, to locate noise. Look for name of cpu cooler and find manual on google.

Honestly it depends on the fan you have to replace, find out which one it is and post back.

/Edit- Actually looking at the uneven buildup of dust on the fan blades just giving them a thorough clean might make a difference in noise, also in the past I have re-oiled fan bearings by peeling back the sticker and applying a couple of drops of 3-1 and putting the sticker back (important to stop dust getting in).
