Help with a first build.

Couldn't see properly from the photos, but did you remember to plug the power button from the front of the case in to the motherboard?

I think then you definitely have faulty components. Is it possible to borrow a PSU or a motherboard to see if that is the problem?

Right guys im back haha. Right upon the assumption that his processer was dead I wanted to check. Luckily for him I had built a computer of almost the exact same spec ( minus the psu and case ) as him.

I tried his processer in my machine and it worked absolutly fine. Loaded up BC2 no worries css everything. So ruled that one out.

Next I thought Id try his processer powering my machine, tried this and got no power to my machine at all :O. I tried my psu in his machine and didnt get anything either.

Does this more then likely mean the mobo and psu are faulty ? I tried the ram and graphics in my machine they were also fine.

Thanks for all the help and advice

p.s ( On a personal note since swapping out the processers into my computer its running, albeit only a little, slower then what it did before. Is this normal ? Would a disk defrag help here. Its only very very marginal so wouldnt be to bothered either way.)

Again thanks :)

Hmm? I assume you meant his PSU powering your machine in the second paragraph?

Time to RMA that PSU then, if it is not supplying any power, then it is obviously gone. I think that noise you heard was the PSU.

And you say that your power supply is not working in his machine and all other components are working fine? Then I think the motherboard is gone as well.

Do you have generally good electrical service around your area? Was it stormy weather when it happened? I think that there was a power surge which damaged the PSU and, in the process, the motherboard as well.

There is no way to fix a blown PSU or a dodgy motherboard, at least unless you work for a manufacturer or something ;)

The only thing you can do now is contact OcUK (I'm assuming you bought from here?) and arrange an RMA.
