Help with a new rig..

Hi guys, I have been reading a few posts over the last few days and decided I may as well make my own.

I have an out-dated standard Acer Aspire desktop I bought for college about 2-2 and a half years ago which cost around £250. I started playing Wow again and put a ATI RADEON HD 5570 in it and it did the job on low settings.

Specs are

Intel Celeron 450 @2.20Ghz
Acer G31T-M5 1.0, I believe they don't even make this mobo anymore?
2048MB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5570
Not a lot more else to be said, think it's a 160GB HDD and something like 300W PSU, very standard.

Now I have a little more cash I'd be looking for something around the £500-£600, £650 being a max budget. I could probably spend a little more if I was to buy the bits in stages if any of you guys point me to a higher spec rig for a little more money.

I've dabbled a little with RAM and GFX cards but never built from scratch.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated,

Fraser.

I have no SATA, literally nothing I can reuse to be honest!

Those both look good!

I forgot to mention I wouldn't mind a blu-ray driver if that's possible, I'd link it to my TV.

Just a tower unit, I have standard mouse, keyboard and 18.5" Acer screen.

It would be used for gaming, casual and increasing (hehe) and hopefully blu-ray/HD viewing..

I will need Windows 7 Home I'd say but I wouldn't worry, that can come last if I buy over a few weeks.

And I may be able to a get a cheapo Windows 7 since my Dad works for a college!

Looks awesome as far as I know!

A little rusty on it all but a main point would be some future-proofing. I did think about getting a laptop but for the same price I think I'd be buying one fairly often?

I like the look of that case and it's price, but what are your views on the Sharkoon T9, I kinda like the look of that, clearly bulking the price here aren't I!

If I'm honest, it's the bright green lights that do it, just looks sweet.

I've been scratching my head for days over different components and systems, the 'Cataclysm Hogger' that OcUK do themselves is pretty nice, but thanks so much for the help, I shall be purchasing these over time, looking out for the deals of course!

Any monitors you would recommend, probably end up buying something for around £100 once Christmas has passed to replace this Acer monitor!

Is there any other cheaper cards? Not that I know much but are the 550's any good? Will they perform on high graphics on WoW, Skyrim, those sort of games? Just to minus some price!

Very true, but looking at it now, if I want to do this in stages it will cost a little more.

Is there anything that can be brought down. Hmmm.

Sorry to keep asking questions..

I probably won't tell much difference since I'm running a super slow PC now, but will there be a very big performance drop?

No saving anything at the moment on the CPU since the 2120 is on offer and is cheaper, I have ordered the T9 case and bagged the offer on the PSU.

I'll definitely purchase that mobo you chose. Just depending on offers and budget; which CPU, GPU and RAM I go for I guess..

Is it a no brainer to spend £15 or so extra on +4GB of RAM?
