Hi all, I'm looking to build a decent computer again and after some looking around, this is what I came up with. The only thing I've already got is a hard drive.

Can anyone see any issues with this spec?

Any recommendations to save a bit of cash?

This pc will be used for gaming mainly, after looking at the bf3 roundup on tomshardware it appears that 570SLI is the way to go. Im open to any suggestions, such as another case that will handle SLI as well as the Raven 2.

MSI GeForce GTX 570 £239.99 x 2 £479.98

i5-2500K 3.30GHz £155.99

Iiyama ProLite E2409HDS 24" £149.99

Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB £147.98

Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P £139.99

Silverstone Raven 2 RV02B £129.98

XFX 750W Black Edition Modular £99.98

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 £79.99

Samsung SH-B123L/BSBP 12x BluRay ROM £50.99

Corsair XMS3 8GB £41.99

Saitek Cyborg V5 £35.99

Logitech G400 £27.98

Gelid Tranquillo £25.99

Plantronics GameCom (79731-05) £24.98

Total : £1,624.87 :(

Thanks Guys!

Is it worth going for the Kingston for the sake of a couple of quid?

from what i can see the timings for the kingston is 9-9-9-27
whereas the corsair is 9-9-9-24

Am I right in presuming Lower is better?

Is the difference here anything that I would notice?

The Raven03 I can't quite decide on, it just looks a bit strange.

Ram timings and speed frequency make no difference to sandybridge, there are three ram guides at Anandtech, Xbitlabs and Bit-tech all say 1600mhz with modest timings is the sweet spot.

what resolution do you play at? Wonder if a single GTX580 1.5gb or 3gb would be a simpler and cheaper option.

Ah, I will be playing at the max resolution of that monitor which is 1920x1080.

I've been considering the same myself, but after reading a few sites I'm not seeing enough of an improvement to warrant the extra money per card.

I'm thinking I may just get a single card for now to cut the cost and add another one in a months time or so.

Am I right in thinking that the 580's 3gb is only useful for large resolutions? and I should be looking at the 1.5gb models?

Well after some playing with the basket, and deciding to re-use my existing mouse/kb I have managed to get it down to this.

Do you think i'll encounter any problems with these twinfrozr 580 in future if I decide to sli?
Theres a review saying something about the spacing on the motherboard and it needs 3 way sli?

Have I got the right motherboard and case for the job?

Will I be able to keep it cool enough on air alone?

The MSI cards are dual slot, so two would look something like this,
4948_big.jpg

So theres a gap between them big enough for cool air, the 180mm Air Penetrator fans of the case will be blowing straight up and pushing hot air (rises naturally, thats why Silverstone have this rotated design) out the top.
