Hi, im posting this for my friend (he cant register)
and hes got wondering, will all this work together:

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB).
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional Series 7.1 Sound Card.
Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case.
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2
Asus GeForce 8800 GTS HTDP 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI.
Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 320GB ATA-133 8MB Cache.
Asus P5N-E SLi nForce 650 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

will these run correctly and smooth?
will i need a larger PSU to run my processer?
is there any upgrades or changes i can do to improve my setup but sticking to around £800 budget?

Also, will that machine be able to play games from nowadays very well? such as Cod2/Cod4, Css, Battlefield 2142 etc?

Thanks,
Ross

(Any help very much appreciated)

Hey, what will be better for gaming, AMD x2 or C2d Quad?

Also, a guy emailed him saying this is good:

CPU: AMD X2 5200+
Mainboard: MSI K9N4 Ultra-F
Memory: Corsair 2GB 2x1GB DDR2 Value Select PC5300C5
Graphics: HIS Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB IceQ3 Turbo
Case: Antec NSK6000 Super Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Antec EarthWatts EA 380 Watt PSU
Harddrive: 1TB

said that would be around £7/800 - is this better than the one i posted at the top?

Quite simply no, the only thing that would be considered better with that spec would be the extra hard drive space. The Quad C2D is far better than the AMD and with even a small clock would completely destroy it, the 8800 is superior in a a big way also. The ram, mobo and psu are also imho far better in your original spec, basically stick with the first spec and enjoy:)

As above, although you'll have no problems running an 5200+, the quad core is a no brannier because of the cost, potential overclocking and it's genral superority over the AMD range. That said, I still have a 2 year old 4400+ with a 8800GTX and i'm running BioShock on all the highest settings and at 1920. No slowdown at all. I'm upgrading in November and a Core2 Q6600 is def on my wish list.. First time I've had an Intel processor for 8 years I think.

The spec in your first post is ideal.. :)

Don't forget the OS..

I didnt think the Asus P5N-E SLi nForce 650 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard was a good board to buy for a quad core, as I thought about upgrading to quad myself but was put off by the poor overclocking capabilities.

If you intend on playing games at resolutions on or higher than 1920 then get the GTX. Otherwise, there is no point in buying the GTX. So check your monitors maximum resolution. If it's only capable of 1600 then get the GTS.
