So my PC is misbehaving the last 2 days, whenever i do anything intensive, randomly the monitor will turn off as if its stopped receiving a signal, audio from the PC will continue for another 5-10 seconds or so and then it just changes to a sort of static noise or something and i have to hard reset the PC. I THINK this is an overheating issue but i thought i would get some opinions first on possible solutions. I have cleaned dust out of all the fans already so im guessing its either the CPU, GPU or PSU.

I do hope its fixable because my finances are a little bit delicate right now to replace any major components. My PC specs are in my sig below.

EDIT** incase it was not clear, so far this doesn't happen when browsing the web or watching videos, only while playing games.

are you running any software to monitor temps in your system? something hwmonitor, coretemp or such like.

i'd have them running and run a stress test on the system. prime or intel burn test for the cpu and probably furmark for the gpu.

watch the temps and see what happens.

also worth checking the simple things, is the cpu cooler fan spinning up as the cpu load intensifies, same with the gpu fan. maybe just need a more aggressive fan profile for them

I've had this problem for a while, exactly as you describe I think.

If you hit the reset button when it happens does the PC reset normally or do you get beeps?

For me it's the graphics card, only happens during certain games.

if you have any overclocks (CPU, RAM, GPU, anything) get rid of them, by all means save a profile with them on if you worked hard on them, but get rid of them, and then see if the issue subsides or lessens.
