Hi all, I've got about 2k to spend on a new build, but a little out of touch with todays gear so all advice greatly appreciated!
This will be mainly a gaming rig, but also used for dev work running sql server in virtualisation, and the odd movie or two. I need to get the dell 24, so factoring in that. I'll be running XP Pro, none of that vista crap until it works properly, got a Mac for the fancy looking stuff
Erm, I don't plan on upgrading this for at least a year or two, and on that notion I was thinking of going quad, but it may be in my best interest to get an e6600 for now coz they're so cheap, and swapping it out in 6-9 months for the Q6600 when that comes down, I don't really know.
Look forward to seeing some specs!
that's a mockup I've looked at. Obviously the xeon might have to go, but it's so cheap!
