Hi all-

work supplied a 'new' laptop but wouldnt stretch to a dock for working from home... so thought Id pick one up. HP ones are expensive!

so picked up a
Targus from ebay - didnt notice it didnt have cables! but thought would try anyways once I got it.

I bought a Targus Had a 90 watt laptop supply that connects to the dock - this too was cheap so thought that would work (think the original is 100watt)
Have plugged in USB C to laptop USB C - charges laptop.

Plugging in 2 x HDMI gets no display to the monitors.

*Am I missing a special connector to go from Dock to Laptop that enables the power to the displays?
* Is the USB C to USBC cable Im using only supplying power but no display? how can you tell ?
(think it was from my Quest 2) - I dont have any other USBc to USBc cable handy.

Am I missing something else.
Thanks in advance.

Many USB C cables only carry data at USB 2 rates which is useless for video and I can't see any way of telling just by looking at them. I suggest buying a new cable and making sure that it supports at least USB 3.1 Gen 1.

The other possibility is that the Targus PSU isn't powerful enough for both laptop and dock when the dock has work to do but I'd sort out the cable first.

Thanks - ordered a
"USB C to USB C 3.1 Gen2 Cable 1M,100W USB Type C to C Fast Charge Data Cable 4K Video Output"
Will see if that fixes the issue.
Yeah the power supply is 10W lower so might be an issue - will see what the cable does.

I went for the 3.2 Gen 2x2 cable, just to be sure, and it upped the data transfer speed for my external SSD from 50MBps to 330. So I'm a happy bunny and I hope you get similar results.
