Help with adding water to my 650D

Another big question

Can i have my front rad ie the phobia 200mm with the openings at the top, rather than at the bottom like it seems everyone else does?

Is there any problem with having the in and out at the top of the rad?

Not as fae as I am aware - have it whichever way you want.

I think the reason people fit the Phobya 200mm rad with fittings at the bottom is because the rad has a bleed screw at the top.

Right 99% of my bits are on their way - happy days

I have gone with a 240 koolance top rad as I have limited time to get it all done and the 280 is out of stock everywhere . I am hoping running 2 typhoons 1850s at high speed will be man enough.
I have bought a silver coil - do I need biocide as well?
I plan to use de ionised water from Halfords or similar?

Silver kill coil and halfords warta will do the job just fine mate ;)

PS - How come no one is using the built-in fan controller on the 650D?
I just got my replacement kit from corsair - it dropped that silly buzzing noise :) fitted and tested ok last night.

Removed mine completely - bit fiddly. I removed it because I was going to use the Lamptron anyway as it has support for much higher amps etc. I found the one supplied with the case to be not that good as there was not much change in speeds etc - so less control, and fiddly to use with a tiny switch to change speeds. Must say I am far happier with the lamptron as it is far more versatile. Just my view of course.

Just waiting for the new rad to arrive now, so I can re build yet again Lol.

I like it - its sneakily tucked out of the way where my 2yr old son can't get his grubby mits on it. He was forever screwing around with my Aquaero 5 :(

I'm gunna see how it performs with my Scythe GT's on it before I shell out for an AE5 LT (non-screen one this time!)

Luckilly I dont have that problem - although my flatmate can act like a two year old at times:D.

I have tested the viper fans that came today - just hooked one up outside the case but connected onto my lamptron and it works just fine - so it is indeed 3/4 pin connection - despite the specs. So at least that problem is solved and I can now at least try them. Just waiting for the rad to turn up now, which I suspect wil be tomorrow or Thurs. Btw I didn't think the vipre sounded too bad outside the case on full pelt - yes a bit noisy, but seemed to be pushing some good air, so........

/finger crossed everything should be here for me tommorow - just in time for strike day so I'll have the day to get building :)

I originally went for 2 x bitspower 140-120mm convertors hoping to use the Scythe GT's on the rad, but they didnt have them in stock so I ended up changing my order to 2 x 140mm Akasa Apaches. Slightly slower than the Vipers but exactly the same thing with less noise. Hoping they do well too mate. I also got the Megaflow 200mm fan for the front so noise should be reduced substantially!

Sounds good to me.Seems like you are going to get there first as my rad probably wont show up till Thursday - oh well never mind something to look forward too.

What speed does the built in fan controller use?

I've just spent 3hrs trying all combinations of fans and the case sounds like a jet at take off

Not sure what's going on.. Tried 2 Gelid Wing 12s, 2 Akasa Apache and yet I can't get the sound down at all. I know the controller works as I tried 1 of the apaches on it before I re-built it, so perhaps its the sound of the front fan?

The front fan I'm using is a 200mm megaflow (also on the controller).

Makes no sense!

You absolutely sure the fan controller is working - I ask because mine was a bit uinreliable - so I replaced with a lamptron controller, far better. I cant believe the megaflow would be the problem - suggest you re check the controller is actually slowing them down.Other than that I am stumped - the fan controler is actually connected I take it???

Found the problem.

Seems in my tiredness last night I failed to notice that there was a pin that had come out of the 4 pin PWM splitter I use for the H70.

I only realise when I checked the rear "push" fan of the H70 and saw it not working, which made my arse go a bit. Shut the computer down, pushed the pin back in and all is sorted

Weird how I thought it was coming from the front fan.. It must have been the noise of the other "pull" fan going at full tilt which was drowning out everything else. That was doing my head in all night!

Glad your sorted now - just shows how easy it is to make little mistakes when your tired.

Indeed. I'm now waiting on the results of this thread before I buy my watercooling as I'm eager to see that 280 rad :D

how did u connect the 4 pin akasa mwp fans to the controller (which is 3 pin) mate?

i'm sat here eagerly awaiting four parcels being delivered today lol. I bet something doesnt arrive to put a spanner in the works :(

It will turn up - have faith.

God damn that third party watercooling supplier!!!

Pump and Res turned up - posted yesterday by a private seller
Fittings and Fans turned up - courier from a competitor
Kill coil and IC Diamond turned up - 1st class recorded by a competitor

BUT NO SIGN OF THE FRIKKIN MAIN COMPONENTS!!! (Rad, CPU Block, and Tubing!) - grrrrrrr, They charged me nearly £7 for P&P aswell, I chased it up monday to ensure it was posted out - got an email to say it was posted but still no sign.

Looks like it will all have to wait till the weekend :( - Last time I order from them

I snipped the side off the built in 3 pin plugs, so the 4 pin fan sits inside.

Kit arrived yesterday but I'm up in scotland for a funeral at mo so won't get chance till somepoint later next week to test.
