I'm making my first venture into networking beyond basic wireless access points and connecting a modem (Zyxel P660R D1) to a wireless router (Linksys WRT54GS2). I've got the two talking and the internet is working without any problems. I couldn't get the modem working in "bridge" mode so it's currently in "routing" mode, connecting to the internet via PPPoA. The router gets the WAN IP via DHCP which is enabled on both.

I'm not sure this is the right way to do it! I'm trying to get my PS3 to display an open NAT and have forwarded ports on both the modem and router but neither worked. Can someone help clear up the mess I've made?

Is there no bridge or half bridged mode available at all?

The way it's working at the moment is nearly right. What I'd do, to fix the NAT issue, is assign the WRT54GS2 a static IP, then take this IP and put it in to the DMZ pool on the Zyxel modem (and make sure uPNP is off on the Zyxel), this way all ports are forwarded straight to the Linksys router where its own forwarding or uPNP will take care of things.

There is a bridge mode but for whatever reason it won't connect to the internet set in that mode.

The router's IP is always static is it not? e.g. 192.168.2.1 I've added that address to the DMZ and will see what happens.

Yeah, it is. Let us know how it goes :)

[edit]Sorry, I should say to set the Routers WAN side as a static IP that is in the range of the Zyxel.
