hello, i just got a mercedes e240 estate s reg. it has come with allegedly brand new 18"amg alloys. however i really don't want these on the car! so i figured i'd sell them and get some cheap 15"s or even just nab the alloys from my subaru legacy turbo. but what i don't know is if there is more to alloys than just the diameter? in other words could i put the recommended tyres on the subaru alloys (presuming that they would actually fit the merc) as the tyres that are currently on them aren't quite what it says i need in the merc manual.

cheers

When fitting used aluminum wheels you should check the bead areas for corrosion before mounting the tire. They tend to corrode faster than similarly aged steel wheels and corrosion in this area will cause the tires to leak air. A refurbishment shop can rescue even the most corroded beads.
