Help with AMD cpu

I went to my local (store) today for a browse and ended up walking out with an assortment of goods but in particular, a Asus A88X-Gamer motherboard.

Now, ive only ever been interested in intel and when it comes to AMD, im lost. Literally i have no idea. I never normally would have bothered but seems as this mobo cost me less than 4 pints of Stella, i couldnt help myself.

Question is a simple 2 parter,

Whats is the absoloute best CPU available for this mobo?
What would be sufficient if this was purely a media centre playing up to 4k?

The best CPU you can get here is the A10-7870K. As a media centre, that may be overkill, but it's only £110 and has decent onboard graphics.

Makes for a good little spare rig to use as a media centre and to double up for kids to mess around on if you have family with young once visiting.

Pair it with super speed RAM since the onboard loves it. Ofc if you have no intentions to use it for anything other than video pb then no need for speed RAM.
