Help with an accident

Basically someone ran into me as I was turning right into a side street from a main road. The other guy didn't see me in front and because somebody had let him go on his side he just came forward and hit the side of my car.

Basically the rear quater panel needs some bodywork and sprayed. Also the back bumper that also comes around the side has a few minor scuff marks on by the wheel arch.

I told him what the quote was as it includes paint work on two panels and it was a little more than he was expecting.

I am going to my usual garage who do absolutely spot on work with body repairs and always do a cracking job. I would just like reassurance that I can basically go to whichever garage I choose??

i think you can go to any garage if your settling out of insurance, if our doing it by insurance you might have to go to approved insurance bodyshops
you might also have to get a couple of quotes tho

well its up to both of you to come to an agreement, if he thinks its too much get a couple of quotes and show him the one you want and the most expensive one aswell (if theres any), that way he wont feel like hes being ripped off

I work within the Insurance Industry. If it was done through insurance it would basically be down to your insurers and who they have as their approved repairers in your area.

Out of insurance, it is down to who you want to repair your vehicle as far as I know.

I always thought you could tell your insurers where you wanted the work doing, they could only "advise" you to go to an approved repairer....

Yes, you can get it fixed at whatever place you choose, just the insurance company won't warrant the work done on the car.

Nope, you always get a choice. You just won't benefit from your insurers courtesy car*, etc etc if you have a fault accident repaired at the garage of your choice.

*Not that its ever worth having. Bus > Corsa 1.0 12v.

yup, and if you dont use their approved repairer, you wont get 'benefits' like the free courtesy car etc.

you can have it done wherever you like.

hope it goes well... these 'agreements' tend to fall through a lot lol
