Hi,

I have been planning on building a new PC which will predominantly be used as an HTPC, but will also serve as my main machine. up ntil now I have been using a Sony Vaio laptop which is beginning to become aged.

I use it mainly for surfing the web and viewing pictures, with occasional photo editing work. I also plan to rip blu-ray/dvds so I can watc the on my ipad.

I waited for SB to come out, and had my eye on one of the low voltage S chips, which were elusive, and I was after a 2500s which has yet to make an appearance as far as I can see.

I could do with getting a move on with this proje. So am looking a other options.

A few preliminary items which should be considered are that this machine will sit in an AV cabinet, and the case should be no more than 16cm tall. Airflow arond will be somewhat restricted, which is why heat has been a concern, that said, cabinet is open at the back, but closed at either side. I have decided that I do not think a seperate graphics card is necessary, and I would happily make do with the onboard SB chip, which I figure will help general cooling inside the case. I had wanted and HDMI 1.4a out, so that the machine would be 3d ready. The only mobo that advertises as 1.4a out is the Astock H67 series, but these seem to be sold out, not sure if as a result of the recent mobo issues.

I guess my main question is what cpu, mobo and cooler should I be looking for? Price not an issue.

Until this point I had decided on a Lian Li PC C50 case ( not bothered about digital display on case, or remote), some blu ray writer, most likely pioneer, a WD Green 2TB drive, and then a smaller SSD on which Id install Windows, some low voltage ram (would like advice on whether 4 or 8 gb should be insalled)

Then I was going to go for the Asrock H67 matx mobo with a 2500s, if it ever comes out, with a suitable cooler (think case could take one that was max 12.5cm in height), and had been toying with the idea of a small Corsair watercooling unit, but had been concerned by mention of noisy pumps.

Would anyone care to advise me on a cpu/mobo/cooler aspect? Would a 2500 non-s at 95w TDP simply run too hot?

Sorry if any typos, my smLl ipad keyboard, or fat fingers, one of the two!

Thanks in advance
