i recently bought a h50 push/pull to try & further my overclock on my i7 920 (DO)from 3.6ghz to 4.0ghz. im currently at 3.8ghz & core temps are fine under load. low 70's .

The thing thats bugging me is my motherboard temp has gone from 30'c to 45'c & my mosfets/nb heatsinks are superhot to touch.

on my air cooler zalman cnps9900nt the motherboard temps were fine at around 30'c. core temps were 80'c though on 3.6ghz

ive googled around looking for anyone who has watercooled this mobo Asrock x58 extreme but cant find anything useful.

so where do i go from here to solve this heat problem.

the case i have is a thermaltake Eclipse DV silver (midi tower )
its crammed full. the airflow sucks.

ive ruled out everything with the h50 aswell, switching from intake to exhaust, reseating / as5 / trapped air etc.

so i need a new case i think ( large for watercooling ) suggestions?

i have found nb/sb heatkiller blocks but i cant seem to find a mosfet block that will fit this board.

what do i think i should do for now

buy a case & hope it all cools down on this board.

mod the h50 & add a res / NB Block.

or is 45'c for motherboard temp acceptable.

im really worried about cooking my stuff.

specs are

asrock x58 extreme s1366
i7 920 DO
6GB OCZ DDR3 1333mhz xmp edition
2x 750gb samsung f1's ( Raid0 )
1x 1tb hitachi
1x 2tb hitachi
2x dvdrw
9800gt 1GB
tv card
wifi card
asus u3s6 pcie X4 card
900w tagan bz piperock

ive got about £150 to spend on a case or the water cooling i just want to spend it wisely this time?

Try better cable management to improve airflow? Also buy smaller fans to place near the motherboard components. 45 degrees seem to be ok, I have motherboard temps in the 60's with a rampage 2. Spending 150 seems a bit overkill to just cool a motherboard tbh.

my cables are as tidy as they can get in this little case. cheers for the advice though. i was thinking of adding a little 40mm fan to the northbridge.

is 45'c really ok cos ive never had one over 40'c ? & the whole case etc is really quite warm

i was looking at the coolermaster RC1000 as a water cooling case.

is this a good case for water cooling. what are the fans like too.

anybody using it here, & would you reccomend it ?
