help with asus eee 900 install windows

ive got a friends asus eee 900, its got windows installed but is now asking for key, ive got the key on reverse of laptop but cant input the key due to the numbers pad thingy.
with numbers on i can type and numbers off i cant type to put correct letter in key.

how can i get around this?

On screen keyboard - just let windows install without the key first.

its pre installed and past its 30 days and now asking for key.
it wont let me do or go past any screen except enter key.

only half of the numbers work as well does half the other keys work, but only around the number pad. strange!!

You have numlock stuck on. Should be able to switch if of with a function key.

i can turn on and off.
i can type some letters and some numbers, just not all

Then you have a problem with the keyboard. Or do you mean you cant read the numbers on the COA?
