Help with backup software

Can anyone please recommended me some software to synchronise my files and folders with my external hard drive? Something free would be ideal. I'd already copied across the data a while ago so only a few things will have changed. I tried Genie Backup Manager but it wanted to delete everything and start again!

you can't beat acronis true image in my opinion... is perfectly capable of just backing up specific things but really shines when it comes to complete drive images

I actually use that for my Primary drive that my OS is on. The trouble is that it wants to make an image (archive). I need to have access to the files on my external hard drive as I would with the original data on my PC. There doesn't seem to be a synchronise option with true image.

rsync should be able to do that

synctoy is great and free. Just do an echo. That way it will only add new or changed files.

There are quite a few (free) utilities that will do this for you, SyncToy (as already mentioned) is probably the best, but there is also the following:

EZBack-it-up

SyncBack Freeware
