I bought a pc from ebay for 266pounds, however the motherboard and possibly cpu are broken. After it worked perfectly for a day, i had to do a restart, and it posted to the cpu info, then stopped. It keeps doing this and wont even let me into the bios, any ideas?
(939pin amd64 3800+ and gigabyte ultra-sli mobo) So i am left with...

an antec p180 case
550W qtec psu
1gb ddr ram
7800gt 256mb ram

17inch tft
optical drives
ide 200gb hdd.

Im thinking of upgrading to a conroe setup, to play css, ut2007 and crysis.

Could anyone advise me what to do... i do not really want to spend much money and may possibly wait until summer to build it (a month and a half)

Again, as little money as possible - im a student. :(

4300 - overclocking to 400 fsb to match the ram.
2gb ocuk value ram - possibly 4gb ?
gigabyte ds3 - possibly quadcore compatible board for future upgrade.

What do you guys think ?

first off is the psu a qtec or qtechnology ?

if its a qtec see if you can lend a psu off a mate.

main thing i reckon will be a psu if its a qtec rest of the system should be ok for the time being.

Its a gold q-tec, cheapo psu, i dont think its the problem.

Are you suggesting that it could be the reason my pc wont post... or that it will not be powerful enough to run a conroe setup?

I will consider the higher multiplier. Thanks. However, im also wodnering whether to go for a quad core supporting ds3, and better ram, then buy a quad core later.
