Running a asus p5wdg2 and 6600 with gskill hz kit. Been fine for months and months running at 3.75ghz. Mem is at 417 4,4,4,8 @2v. Chipset at 1.7v

Now started getting random bsod's. Its not software as reverted back to fresh install with true image. Error code is loads of 0x0000007F each time. Is this a memory one. Have tried upping volts to 2.05 and hasnt helped. Memtest hasnt shown any errors?

Any ideas? Sticks have always been run at 2v and they are hz ones designed to run at 2-2.2v + its been fine for months

Looking at those memory timings, they look quite aggressive for 417MHz? Try slacking them a bit 5,5,5,8..

Try testing the memory in different banks and one stick at a time..

If they still don't work, then check the the power supply is adequate. Make sure that all the rails are within the accepatable tolerance. Make sure all the connections are secure.

It does memtest absolutely fine though and they are rated at 400, 4,4,4,12 for 2-2.2v. Was running system at 3.5ghz which put mem at 389 and no luck. Can run memtest to 1200% at 417 absolutely fine - have never stressed mem as cpu tops out at 417 and may as well keep it 1:1 so chipsets ok.

PSU is tagan 530w but graphics is only a 7900gt extreme so should be fine, Rails are fine and stable but about month and half ago comp suddenly turned off and when checked log cpu volts had defaulted suddenley but put that down to motherboard error - hasnt happened since so just put it to 1 off weird thing.

Any idea on error code? Most googles say memory but memtest passes? Have upped mem volts to 2.1 to see if that solves it. Dont find windows memtest as good as the original dos one

The problem is that components can just fails for no reason. My motherbaord went last week and i hadn't changed a thing. Turns out after plenty of swapping around to be the the one of memory banks.. ????

Try and set everything to stock, try and eliminate the memory and PSu just so it point s to the mobo. How old is it? It may be still under warrantee. The Asus I had had 3 years :)

Yes everything is still under warranty. Board 9 months, cpu 6 months and mem about 5 months. Psu couple of years but rails are stable.

Annoying thing is dont know whats faulty as have no other kit to swap in or out + big project due in, in couple of weeks. Bet whole system breaks completely 2 days before deadline
