Basically i'm looking for a top spec pc for gaming, but i want it to last several years on max settings before having to buy a whole new pc again. I have chosen the Radeon HD 4870 but am stuck on what processor to purchase. Many friends advise to get Core i7, as it has the new chip model, and so I won't need to upgrade the motherboard for a long time etc... however the price tag is quite heavy, as well as being needlessly powerful if i am only using the pc for gaming... and so i am considering quad core 2.8ghz. Is this sufficient for gaming and will it (combined with a suitable motherboard) last me for 4 yrs + if all I do is upgrade graphics once in a while? Or, is it worth that extra £200 to save time/money in the future? Cheers
