Hi everyone, basically was going to get a PC but decided against it after realising I'm going to be joining the army soon, which is gonna involve a lot of moving/ travelling etc so I want something portable that I can easily unplug and go.

So I need help picking a good gaming laptop for my budget of £700, now this budget can be increased a bit (just means I have to save for a bit longer) I'm aiming to buy it at the end of this month.

I have no idea about mobile chips etc so any help would be appreciated, if you could post a link to the best laptop and give a basic explanation of how it's good.

Aiming to play games such as LoL, WoW, Rome 2, rust, dayz etc. so some easy games and some intensive ones! I'll happily play medium settings on dayz etc as long as I get above 30fps!

Thanks in advance!!

If you've not started basic yet then I'd wait until you've got all that out of the way and see how much cash you've got and what's about as you'll have no time to be sat about on a laptop during the first couple of months.

I'm going to get one now, I understand your point though, but when I'm in the army and finished training phase 1 and 2 I'll be buying a PC.

The reason I want a laptop now, is because I have been told the next available intake for me is September or after and that's with an A grade during selection.

So could you recommended a laptop? Thanks for the reply

Where are you going for your Basic, I can tell you that if your going in as an officer a gaming laptop is a good investment, you have time to use it during your later terms. If you are joining as a soldier, you wont have much time to use it during phase 1. What corps/regiment are you joining and how long is your phase 2?

My point being that I agree with tom e. I know the pressure of wanting one now but in a few months the "new" Nvidia GPU's will be selling on laptops which will give you 10-15% extra speed for roughly the same price. If you can hold out then definitely do if you cant then the MSI laptops as tom e says are good.

Im in a similar position to you now and I think that saving and getting an even better laptop is the way forward. Im about to splash out £1800 on a laptop that should last a few years. The moving about doesnt stop, the going away on courses doesnt stop and to be able to take the laptop anywhere is really useful.

Anyway its up to you, just letting you know.

How do you PM people on here btw?

Going in as a soldier, royal regiment of scotland. Phase 2 is the CiC at catterick.

I'm definitely getting one now, because the games I mentioned are the only games I'll play on it as I have an Xbox one for main gaming!

Thanks for your replies, I'll have a look at the msi one. If I made the budget 800 would there be a better choice available? Thanks

My mates an officer in that regiment, completely useless random fact for you.

Not really they're all much of a muchness around that price point and the MSI was the best I spotted when I was looking a month or so ago although I ended up peeing all over my £800 limit in the end and getting one of the MSI gaming gear laptops.

how much did you spend in the end tom e?

I do think the high end laptops are excessive in price however it just fits with me at the minute
