Help with car advertisement, too honest?! Modified Fiesta ST

It's still too much hard work really, it needs to be bullet points containing all the relevant info (and no, the exact brand of oil used, what headlight bulbs it has, and what type of wheel nuts it has aren't relevant) with maybe a beginning or ending paragraph explaining how much of a loved and cherished example it is and yada yada yada.

Also I can guarantee the phone WILL ring more if you put the standard wheels and suspension back on and take off those wind deflectors.

Hi guys.

As said, I'm not going to rush to return the car to standard yet, not to say I won't consider it a little further down the line. Effectively it's still early days.

Fr0dders, I'm not paying 6 to 10 quid on every owners forum just to sell bits :) There are a couple of Facebook groups though so I could try and look into swaps for immaculate wheels and tyres... not gonna rush to do this just yet though.

I know mods don't add value also. Every car I've had has been modified, so I'm used to the losses. I'm playing on the age of the car and it being a last of the line ST to try and push for good money. Emphasis on try. Nothing is guaranteed of course.

Gaygle - I'll pass on your advice as I cannot be bothered to keep reading your rude comments. Your BMW advert was ridiculous. EDIT: Yes it has "full service history" but not main dealer service history. As I say, anything servicable has been done which I can provide receipts for and the service book has been stamped by the garage I used to do all servicing.

Scrutinize (good name lol) - duly noted. As I say I'm gonna try and run another week with it to see what happens but if needs be I will take the suspension off and fit the standard stuff and try and get some mint wheels, to be fair people are paying 300 quid for those coilovers second hand. The Mountune fancy air filter would probably fetch good money. The exhaust... problem is a standard system cat back is one piece and not cheap.

Granted the car is quite low but honestly it's not that firm and nothing catches if you drive for the area you're in, i.e. obviously you can't storm over speedbumps. It's firm but it doesn't crash in and out of bumps at all, it's quite good suspension honestly :)

Anyway thanks for the feedback once again. The mods are obviously something I need to think about in another week or so to open up the potential market without a doubt. The last couple of easier sales were my Civic Type R and Golf 1.8 20vt, but to be fair I was prepared to lose a bit more on both of those. All I can say is I can't afford to throw money away at the moment hence trying it at a higher price for a little while longer.

Cheers :)

I bought my 2007 Fiesta ST 3yrs and 4months ago for £5,000, from a Ford dealer, with 37,000 miles on the clock and in great condition. It was therefore considerably newer than yours, it was the latest version out, and it had less miles. I really think you're going to struggle to get the same money now.

Best of luck though!

Ignoring whether you think he's rude or not, Gaygle makes very good points. It does imply the car doesn't have FSH, there is still a lot of inconsequential waffling about wheel nuts and so on and if the air con just needs regassing, do it now and be done with it. Whenever I see 'just needs regassing' I like many others will assume that actually means 'air con never used, all the seals are now ruined and it needs expensive work'.

Personally I'd still be looking to cut that down by half.

Just one owners forum will do I reckon. Your car will definitely appeal to more people if it's standard. In its current state it only really appeals to other fast ford enthusiasts who maybe want another one after having owned something else or maybe looking to trade up from an older one etc..

- 53,000 miles (will increase as car is still in use)
- MOT due July 2015 (Just get it MOT'd, don't say you're going to do it, just do it)
- Tax due end of June 2014
- HPI clear, FSH and both keys present
- Modifications include:
- Mountune CAIS
- Piper catback, non-resonated centre section, & Miltek flexi pipe
- AP Racing adjustable coilovers
- Black Mk.7 Zetec 7 spoke alloy wheels
- Yokohama S-Drive tyres (4.5mm rear, 7mm+ front)

There you go, that's all the add should consist of really, cut the waffling. Strip it back to standard if you can. My focus is in right now getting put back to standard before I punt it, would lose far too much money if I left it modified.

I'm lucky in the sense I didn't fit the mods apart from the exhaust, I've just gone mad with maintenance in the last year. So I'd not "lose" much in that sense.

Thanks for the comments though guys I'll try and cut it down some more into something I'm happy with :) Before looking down the route of returning it to standard. Only issue there is labour costs involved lol it'd all level out but cause more hassle trying buy and sell bits for no real gain and also slows down the sale of the car none the less.

We shall see.

You could probably swap over the CAIS yourself, likewise the wheels and all the cosmetic stuff.

You could then just leave the exhaust and coil overs and raise it back to standard ride height

The above is what i'd do.

With the ride height set back to something resembling standard people will be unlikely to be too concerned about the coilovers. Even better if the wheels are back to standard too. This should be something cost neutral (worst case) for you to do.

Change the intake yourself too and sell yours on, then you'll have more chance of getting decent money for the car imo.

I'm not sure the wind deflectors are much of a big deal, but remove them and if you aren't particularly fussed about keeping them offer the new owner them with the car.

Just viewed the eBay ad, still IMO way too much waffle.

Re-gas the aircon, do the oil change now and advertise it as just done.

Keep it brief, in my experience, the longer the advert the harder to sell!

Still way too much waffle, it needs bullet points, take the advice from people who know what they are talking about and just bullet point the advert! :)

Also: This is a great motor and will do you proud That makes you sound like a gypsy.

There are also spelling mistakes such as milage in the subtitle.
