Hi, Looking for a bit of help with CAT5e Cable.

I've just bought 100m of cable and RJ-45 connectors to wire a Sony Bravia TV to my Network.

Now proplem is the cable I have bought does not have the same colour code for wires as per the Diagrams on the internet.

The colours I have is

Light Green
Green
Light Blue
Blue
White
Red
Light Purple
Purple

Now, I just thought well if I wire the plug in same direction at each end it should not matter. But when connecting the made cable to my router I get No cable Connected on Bravia TV or same No cable connected on Sony PS3.

BUT if I connect my Macbook Pro using the cable all is fine. I get a net connecting on the Laptop.

Can anyone please tell me which way I should have the wires in the RJ-45 Connector in Colour order.

Thank you.

Kevin

Ive tried everything but just getting Cable not connected on TV.

The cable has been tested with the cable tester you get with the kit and all lights are ok.

Cannot understand how the laptop works fine, but the playstation and tv dont work.

Thanks for your reply.

Those are defo not the standard colours.

Laptop probably switches the transmit and recieve pairs like a lot of newer kit does (Auto-MDIX??)but the TV and PS3 don't.

Assuming that the "pairs" of cable are:

Light Green / Green
Light Blue / Blue
White / Red
Light Purple / Purple

Simply think of them as:

White-Green / Green
White-Blue / Blue
White-Orange / Orange
White-Brown / Brown

then follow the guides online and you should have a fully functional cable that works will all the kit.

Can anyone please tell me which way I should have the wires in the RJ-45 Connector in Colour order.

Thank you.

It shouldn't really matter as long as you use the same wiring order, have you tried connecting the TV itself with a different wire? If the Mac works then it could be a problem with the TV unless it's worked with another wire.

Sorted it now thanks.

Just made another wire for my Sky Box but this time I guessed at placing the colours in a different order by using a diagram from internet and that worked fine. Just re-done the plugs for the TV and its sorted now.

Really cannot see how it would be the colour of the wires though unless I was not crimping the plugs correctly.

The order I used which is working fine is

Light Green
Green
Light Purple
Blue
Light Blue
Purple
White
Red
