Help with changing a processor

Hi everybody.

Basically i am a HUGE gamer, from med 2 to bf2. I run a x2 3800 , 7800gtx and 1.5gb of memory,

but heres the problem, my dual core is apparantly giving me a lot of hassle running med, i get about 10-16fps on large units.


So basically i want to sell my x2 and get another processor, so can anyone recommend another processor?

Also is it true that if a x2 has an disabled core that it doesnt run aswell as say a 64 3500 single core? if so, should i just go back to single core?

thanks. if i was to downgrade to a 64 3500 or 3800 would that make a difference? Not the dual core ones.
