Hello, I'm starting to get each piece for my new gaming rig,
but I'm wondering what PSU I should get, I have in mind a corsair ax750 but my friend won a Be quiet 530w PSU and he is happy to give it me for free,
my specs are:
i7 2700k
EVGA GTX 670
Corsair 16gb Vengeance ram
2 x 1tb seagate hd's
Corsair H60
1 DVD combo

So would a Be Quiet 530w be good for this rig? or should I get the ax750?

Thanks

The Be Quiet would just about be enough for this build.

The AX750 would provide enough power and sufficient headroom for you to add an extra GPU or upgrade other components further down the line.

I have the 630W L8 it's a great PSU (review), very quiet. I paid £60ish quid for it from here a while back. In it's review it reached 701W before it gracefully powered down.

The 530W will be enough for your system. I hope this translated link works for the 530W review

670 benchmarked

Scroll down to the load power consumption benchmarks. Even if their rig was an Ivybridge CPU which uses a little less power (77W vs your 95W), you are still safe. What did you own off the specs sheet?

For a single GPU setup it's more than fine. You will see 500-550W spec'd on here for single GPU setups. That PSU is modular and more importantly it's free. If you dont want it, I'll take it at that price......cos you know, we are all friends here ;)

Ok thanks for your help, ill get it of him and hopefully get my rig going :)

No worries. Come back to us for advice on the other bits if you want. 16GB of RAM is OTT for gaming but then so is the i7. If you need it for other tasks then fair enough :)

Oh I knew that, but I'm on a Media, Animation and game development course so we have to run a lot of programs so It comes in handy :) I was thinking of making a hackintosh :L but hey windows FTW!
