Hi guys,

I have had an Acer GN245HQ for a couple of years now. It is an alright monitor for gaming, I initially bought it as it was one of the only monitors at the time to support HDMI 1.4 and it had a great response time which was good for FPS games.

When playing both Xbox 360 and PS3 through it, the colours have been fine, I have had some trouble when using it as a desktop monitor though and it required some extensive calibration in order to get decent colours out of it.

Anyhow, I purchased an Xbox One a couple of weeks ago and the colours are dreadful on it. The contrast appears to be way too high and even when going between 0-100 on the menu, it makes little to no difference. I have looked in the service menu as well but that hasn't really helped, I have tried restoring it etc. and I can't seem to get anything decent from it.

Here is an example of how the settings menu in the Xbox One should look:

and here is what my monitor looks like:

It is a pretty poor picture but what I was trying to show is that the tiles on the screen should be a dark grey, whereas on my monitor, they are just black.

If anyone can assist me, I'd really appreciate it :)

Could be a number of things.. 1, the Xbox One HHDMI output is slightly faulty. 2, The hdmi lead is faulty. Do you have other systems to test that it is not the monitors fault or the hdmi leads fault, also another screen to check it is not a fault with the xbox?

I've tried different leads and I have also used the Xbox on a Sony KDL TV and it's fine (also used the same HDMI lead).

The monitors colour reproduction has been quite poor in the past with Windows/Mac but I have been able to calibrate it. When I have used the PS3/Xbox 360 with the monitor though it was fine. The Xbox One seems abnormally too high in contrast. Although as I said, it looks fine on a TV.

Not sure then I'm afraid, unless there are any settings on the xbox to play with, or just keep trying with the settings on the monitor
