Can someone please help me, im wanting to upgrade the memory from 4gb to 8gb on my sons Dell XPS420 computer, i know its DDR2 but the rest of the info goes over my head, would really appreciate some advice

Looking at the specs, your board should have 4 ram slots, you could add anther 2 x 2 or remove the current ram and purchase 2 x 4gb (assuming the board can take this) your looking at £50 ~ for new ram.

If you have ability to, have a look on the MM.
 
Ooh - good point!

Op stick your tag number in the Dell support website and it may give you a low down on your system and perhaps BIOS updated which may allow for extra memory.
