help with connection

Hi I've recently upgraded my computer and im currently trying to install my old components into my parents computer however im having an issue as the motherboard requires a 8 pin connector but the power supply only has a 4 pin connector, I've also tried a 2xmolex to 8 pin connector that i got with a graphics card but that didn't work, do i have to get a new psu or is there a connector i can get.

You shouldn't need to do anything.

The 4 pin connector from the PSU will fit into half of the 8 pin connector on the motherboard.

It should work perfectly fine as long as you don't try overclocking the processor too far.
