Hey guys on a new build which i will be doing in the next few months ill need a cooler, currently looking at the Corsair H80 because of its aesthetics and better case airflow. Is it worth buying this cooler or should i get a high end air cooler (wanting the pc to be as quiet as possible!)

Any help appreciated.

Get a high end air cooler if you want quiet. Those alc units require noisy high rpm fans to match the likes of the Silver Arrow, NH-D14 etc and they compliment airflow much better.

As above - a high end air cooler such as the Silver Arrow, in my experience, is quieter than an all-in-one water solution which has pump and fans. And as silence is a prime factor for you there's no competition really for a combination of cooling performance coupled with relative silence.

For example i have a Silver Arrow on my i5 rig clocked at 4.6GHz and my fans are set at 50% and they only ramp up to 100% when temps hit 60 degrees (which is only when i'm stress testing - gaming my temps are usually under 55 degress) so it's silent.

Even when they do ramp up to 100% the SA fans are still quieter than my Corsair PSU fan.

If you have the room in your case i can definately recommend the nh-d14. i have it in a haf x cooling a 1090t @ 4ghz and it never goes above 41 degrees when playing bf3 for hours on end. it is also very quiet. expensive, but worth it in the long run!
