Having had to finally upgrade and living in the console world for the last 5 years i've started slowly building a new machine up for myself which (knowing me) won't be upgraded for a few years.

Now its a 1366 i7 950 and im unsure about heatsinks for the processor, i've looked and looked and everyone gives everything 5* reviews so is there any standout heatsinks that will cool this sucker down. I havent thought about overclocking it but knowing that i used to clock everything i will have a fiddle.

I have seen that ocuk branded water cooler for 60 quid ish without fans would that be a better course for me. Its all going to be housed in a coolermaster 690-II case if that makes any difference.

For 60 pounds, have a look for heatsinks along the lines of the Thermalright Silver Arrow, Venomous X and the Noctua NH-D14. If you have tall memory heatsinks, the first and last options might cause problems, but there are ways to overcome that. Otherwise, those three heatsinks are much better and quieter than a similarly priced ALC unit.

ram heatsinks arent an issue for me as i'd seen people mention having problems so got some crucial ballistix.

Is artic silver still the compund of choice?
