Help with copying files across?

Good Morning alll,

I'm trying to copy some files from my external 200Gb HDD. Got it connected via a USB 2 port. It copyies most files just fine. However, on files with long names or folder names I keep getting" The extention is too long & can't be moved" or something like that. Now I have 80Gb of music on there, and can't go renaming everytrhing smaller.

How do I get around this?

I don't want to rename the files, as its music? Is that what the program does?

Do you think If I put the music into a folder on the drive and compress it into a rar file then move it would that work?

this can move about things with long file names..

try to keep it at.. x:\music\ to solve any problems..

robocopy?

It's a command line util as part of the 2003 server resource kit I think. I use it for copy large folders from server to server and it's great
