Help with cross trainer purchase

Depends on several factors and when I was choosing mine I looked at:-

1. How much I was prepared to spend (given that i'd brought equipment in the past and it ended up not being used!)
2. Where abouts and how much room you have to place this equipment. e.g. does it need to fold away?
3. How often you intend to use it and how many programs you'll need.

I brought one end of July '07 and so far i've lost nearly 2 stone by exercising 4-5 times a week for 30-45 minutes each session. I've also sorted out my diet by cutting out fast-food, crisps, chocolate and fizzy drinks - I guess even if i'd done that alone I would have been better off even without the extra exercise I was doing.

You want to pick a price range, for me it was £300-£350 and then shop around for the machines that have the most functions and the best price. Go to your local store and try a few out before purchasing one also as this gives you an idea of how big they are and what they are capable of.

Good luck.

As delboy says, yuo really need to go and try one. When i purchased mine i was of the opinion that all x-trainers were pretty much the same just differen't grades of materials. After trying out about 15 of them at my local power-house fitness store they most certainly weren't. The placing of the foot plates is really important, i tried out some of the more expensive ones and they didn't feel right for my feet/walking gait, eventually settled on this (but not the fold away version you see here so was slightly cheaper) model which has served me proud for just over a year now.

i bought the Marcy E7000 RRP £299 from an auction for £115 delivered as a factory seconds a few scuffs etc and was rather suprised in the build quality and almost silent running its not pro gym level by any means but does the job.
