Hi,

Just built my PC and have recently downloaded CPU-Z to check over the system info, and im getting the following.

Can anyone tell me why i'm not getting the most from my CPU?

Sorry for daft question but it's all new to me

And if anyone knows can they go threw it in easy steps please

*feels like an idiot*

cheers

You need to enter your bios and disable "speedstep" and "c1e". These automatically lower your multiplier down to 6 to save power when your pc is idle.

Temps look ok.what cooler have you got?

No reason to disable speedstep i quite like the fact mine isn't burning up leccy all the time so i can have a nice figure on cpu-z. Your temps look ok and your a fair way from the max although i don't have any experience with that cooloer i know on mine with a TT120 i have 28-30 idle and 45-48 load and thats with mine oc'd to 3.2. Maybe reseat the cooler make sure you have good contact and try it again if you should be getting lower temps but as far as cpu speed goes you gain more with speedstep enabled then you do with it disabled.

Those temps are fine mate - nothing to be worried about there :)

You don't have to disable speedstep if you don't want to. I prefer to have my PC running at one speed so have personally disabled it. When you start using your PC then it will go back up to the correct multiplier

I disabled speedstep and the temps i provided are with speedstep of. None of the cores go above 60 degrees when under full load. Thanks for your help though guys :).

There nothing else i can do is there to make sure everything is working in tip top condition?

If the temperature is getting that high on stock speed then I would not overclock it. The cooler probably needs reseating. Make sure that you reapply thermal grease to it, rubbing off the old stuff first. You can buy thermal grease from overclockers if you do not have any already.

Yes i'm not going to bother overclocking it yet. I already have some thermal compound i may try this tonight and see what changes i get.

Could probably raise it to 3Ghz though with none or a small bump of vcore though and temps will only rise a couple of degrees at most.

53c on hottest core at 100% load is not that hot at all.

I could do with an idiots guide though to start overclocking. I look at the guide and get slightly confused. So what would i need to change to try and get 3.0ghz.
