help with desktop

hi a friend has just phoned to say half of his desktop has dissapeared off his screen and his start button is now on the right. what has he done and how can i restore it

he cant get to control panel cos when he selects it, its off his screen?????

Ooo theres a keyboard command to bring up the control pannel (my dad showed my this 10-15 years ago when i did it)

Get googling windows control pannel short cut keys as i cant remember just now...

his start button is now on the right, screen resolution was 800 x 600 or something similair

If its not screen resolutions, try using the auto button on the monitor.

Oh, and to get to Control Panel, Windows Key + E, then click Control Panel on the left.

right click taskbar, untick 'lock' and drag start to the left
