I bought a usb digital tv tuner for my gfs machine, but when I do a search for channels, nothing is found.

She is only 6 miles away from her nearest transmitter, so I'm thinking that the supplied little aerial is just too weak to work.

I want to hook up a more powerful indoor aerial that is digital capable, but as it uses a coax input, I need to get some sort of an adaptor to connect it to the usb dongle.

The below pic is an example, and not exactly the product I purchased

The one I got has the aerial with it's smaller connection plug straight into the dongle, without the adaptor cable in the pic.

So I am looking for a xyz to coax adaptor.

Any idea what the xyz is called?

Thanks

Make sure you search for the right channels. To get the digital channels search for "DVB-T Source" - think (it's what it's called in my Hauppauge wintTV HVR-900).

Would guess something like a 3.5mm jack, BNC or RCA.

Nah, it's not like any connetion I've ever seen before, it's tiny, and the socket on the dongle is like a tiny version of a coaxial plug, tres odd

Fanatic: Loads of forums have said that the supplied little aerials with these devices are pants, but I'll give that a try too :)

I got a very similar aerial with mine and it worked ok. I got a booster as i went to Aberystyth Uni. And thats in Wales. And they are still struggling with the wheel and fire over there. So you can imagine the TV signal isn't always to great.

Was your dongle branded?

The one I got is a cheapo £12 no-name brand, so the new aerial route might be the only option.

Never mind, turns out it's my gf's area, Woking is apparently really bad for both analogue and digital signal :(

No wonder they have a NTL connection in the house.

Thanks anyways guys
