Help with dropouts

Hi,
I've just recently had my BT fttp installed and swapped out the BT homehub for an Asus RT-AX86U. We are on the 900 Mbps tariff.
The kids have a variety of Xbox/PS4 and phones/iPads that they use to connect and all has been great.
I've got an old trusty Xbox One that is hardwired to the Asus using a Cat6 cable.
I'm happily having ipv4 & 6 with an open NAT but since flashing the latest stable Merlin firmware I've been experiencing dropouts completely on my Xbox in multiplayer online games such as Modern Warfare/CoD.
Everything seems ok. It's limited to just my console or the games...is this likely to be ports that require forwarding for example?
It seems to be a complete drop out of connection every 5 minutes or so when playing.
I'm at a loss to know what to do.
Current firmware is 386.2_6
No ports forwarded.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers.
