Hi all,

I'm running a laptop at 1024 x 768 at work, my other display is a 17" HP 1730 which, when run in dual monitor mode runs at 1024 x 768 also.

It looks stupid though, so the 17" monitor i've set at 1280 x 1024 which makes it look a lot more normal

However, then, when i run the dual monitor set up, the total desktop size becomes 2560 x 1024, and when i open a window on the laptop screen or move the mouse around, the screen keeps moving (obviously as its off the monitor in some places)

I've downloaded UltraMon, but is there a way that I can retain the laptop at 1024x768 and the 17" monitor at 1280x1024?

Thanks

Play around with the settings - you need to set the higher screen size first and then do the other screen with the smaller settings - with Ultramon.

Thats how I got my settings to work on my dads home PC which has 2 screens with different res's (one widescreen, one normal).

This is doing my head in!

I've set the two displays now. Laptop is at 1024 x 768, but because the primary screen is at 1280 x 1024 the laptop screen is forcing margins (i.e. i cant see the task bar at the bottom unless I move the mouse down on the laptop screen

The primary use for secondary screens on a laptop is attaching a projector to give a presentation...so many aren't flexible when it comes to this sort of thing (most laptops and projectors are XGA). Ultramon is probably your best chance, if it isn't letting you set separate resolutions in the display settings (right click the ultramon tray entry, not the display settings found through the control panel/desktop properties) then you may be out of luck.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh

Hold on, In display settings and Ultramon, it is detecting the screen as ONE monitor, not two

How can i change this?

ULTRAMON cant see my second monitor unless I turn it on within Windows, but then it acts like one large monitor!!!!!!!!

Argh!

Ok, i've just installed the Omega drivers but I still cant get this work. In fact now the option to spread the screen across two monitor has dissapeared completely and even UltraMon cant help!

Bah! i give up tbh!
