Note: I have posted this in the Optical Drives forum but need an answer ASAP. Sorry to be cheeky.

Little bit of confusion as to what i should actually be putting into my new build so that i can read disks - eg install and run games and put music on itunes?

Do i want a DVD-ROM drive? DVD-RAM? Or a DVD-SATA?

Currently on this computer when accessing my computer it says DVD-RAM?

Is that the sort of thing i want? So if that was in my machine it would run a DVD or CD no problem and i could install and run games with it? Sorry, so new to this stuff.

Really don't know enough about this to even know where to start, whats good and whats bad?

I don't want to spend too much. This is the last component i need.

Thanks

DVD-ROM usually means the drive can read discs but can't write to blank ones.

DVD-RAM is/was the name of the format given to the early re-writable discs. This is mostly moot these days but if given in a description it implies the drive can write discs. The suffix +RW is more commonly used now. SATA is the name of the interface/connector used. The other, older type, is called (E)IDE.

TLDR: If your motherboard uses SATA connections then the drive you linked will be fine.
