Help with Error launching HL2 engine games

Cant get any games using the HL2 engine to work apart from Hl2 itself.

The error appears to be with the file named shaderapidx9.dll and i get the error when trying to launch say CS or dod and even Dark Messiah. BUt like i said HL2 itself seems to work fine.

I have reinstalled DX and tried quite a few ATI drivers (incliding the latest)

Has anyone got any ideas or come across this before......i dont want to have to rebuild

Thanks for the reply. I have removed all games and steam but this didnt seem to help. I have also tried the steam forums without much luck tbh. I guess a rebuild is what its going to have to be
