Hi,

I upgraded my pc last week, my old GPU was a Sapphire Vapour-X HD5870 eyefinity model, that had 2 x DVI outputs, 1 x display port, 1 x HDMI

My main centre monitor has a display port input, and my 2 x outer monitors have DVI ports, this was perfect four my old setup.

Now I have upgraded to 2 x Gigabyte HD7950 in crossfire, these cards have 2 x mini displayports, 1 x DVI, 1 X HDMI outputs each.

I cant get my eyefinity to work. Can anyone help me with how to get it working please.

Thanks
Craig

I assume these are 1080p/1200p monitors?

How are you connecting the monitors?

They all need to be connected to the primary card.

If one of your monitors has HDMI then:

- miniDP to DP for one
- DVI to DVI for the second
- HDMI to HDMI to the third

If you don't have a monitor with HDMI then use a HDMI to DVI adapter or cable.

The way I need to connect them is have my main primary display to the mini dp port via a mini dp to dp adaptor which I have and am using already.

The other 2 monitors I need to get to dvi inputs, I can use the one dvi output to get one minitor working so basically what I need is to get from the other mini dp port output to a dvi input on my third monitor but I'm not sure what lead/adaptor I need.

Why not connect the third monitor using the HDMI connection on the graphics card?

OcUK Value 3m DVI to HDMI Gold Plated Cable (CDLDV-303)

I assume you can connect OcUK Value DVI to HDMI Video Adapter to your graphics card (make sure you have room) or OcUK Value HDMI to DVI Video Adapter to your monitor.

A cable like the first link is probably the most straightforward solution.

This might work if you want to use the miniDP: OcUK Value Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter though I'm not 100% sure if a passive adapter like that will work.

I think I would prefer the last one as I have already tried to connect my main monitor to the HDMI output via a HDMI to Displayport lead and it would not work, so that makes me question how the HDMI output works.

Would it not need to be an active adaptor? I don't want to buy the wrong one

I know for certain you would need an active adapter if the other two connections used are not DP.

As you'd be using only one non-DP connection I don't know if you can get away with a passive adapter.

If you have to get an active adapter that's around £25.

I can't see a reason why the HDMI to DVI adapters or cable I linked above wouldn't work.

You will need a mini display port to regular display port adapter basically.
